My student room | First step: buying little hearts

Before I start I will explain a bit about this little post for those who haven't read my previous post! Last week, I was thinking about how I could fill my walls. This is not that hard, because you can buy a huge poster and then you are finished but I wanted to come with originals ideas to make my room even more unique and special and also to inspire you. The idea is that I am going to make a wall full of hearts (made from wood and reed) just to brighten up my room and decorate one of my almost-bare-walls. How I came to this idea? You can read it in my previous post. But for now I will continiue with what I was actually going to talk about. Because, yes, it happened I bought my first two little hearts! Where to start? Today I went to the 'Intratuin', a famous garden center store in the Netherlands, where you have a lot of home accesoiries from multiple branches (such as Riviera Maison, Bloomingville and Riverdale; wich I absolutely love). I looked threw al the stuff, but could only find two nice hearts (I also bought a planter and a photo frame), so I will go to the Xenos and Blokker as soon as I can to search for more hearts. Actually, these two I bought today are made of reed, but that is nice to combine with wooden hearts. I will post a picture of them below this little tekst as soon as I arrive at Wageningen, so I can make the pictures with my SLR camera. Lots of love, me.

30/09/13 (Monday)
So here they are! Today I arrived at Wageningen and when I came back from school I went to the 'Action' with a friend of mine. The 'Action' is a very cheep store in the Netherlands where they have almost everything and ofcourse I looked for hearts and found one! I bought a (third) heart made of reed. After I went to the Action, I made some pictures of the hearts as I promised I was going to do. But I have one little note: the other white heart of reed I bought I still at home because I wanted it not to break and I was very scared taking them with me. So, in this photo you see two new-bought-hearts and the other heart is from the post below, the heart where I got this inspiration from. But as I do not know yet which heart I will use for my wall and which heart I will be hanging on the door of my wardrobe, I wanted to apply this one to my collection!

My student room | Creating a wall of hearts

Yesterday I was laying my bed, when suddenly something popped into my head. As my walls are still very empty (I have got two bare walls. One is painted white and one is painted in a very beautiful-kind-of-grey-brown-clay-stone-earth-color), I am wanting to full them up for quite a while. Just to make my room some more cosier and make myself feel a little bit more at home. So, I was talking about this 'something popping in my  mind thing' and I am going to tell you what popped into my mind. I want to turn a little part of my bare white wall into a wall full of (wooden) hearts. I invented this idea when I was looking at the little wooden heart on my wardrobe-door (with I absolutely love everytime I open my wardrobe to pick out some clothes I am going to wear). Next weekend I will go shopping with my boyfriend, so I will certainly sneak in some stores such as the 'Blokker' and 'Xenos' to look for wooden hearts. I think it is just an not-so-expensive-kind-of-creative idea, so I am very enthusiastic about it. I hope I can make it just the way that I have it in mind. I would like to hear what you think about this idea and I promise I will keep you up to date about this!
Furthermore I am looking for more creative ideas to cover up my wall! I will write another post about that, when I have some more ideas in mind. When you have any suggestions, I would really love to hear them!

My student room | Maui shower towels

Although it is kind of late, I wanted to tell you something about my just-bought shower towels. Why? Because I am very satisfied with the quality and softness of these towels and I definitely think you guys should all buy them. This is not an advertising for Cotton Counts (the web shop where I bought the two towels) but just a honest review or maybe even a subtle recommendation. Where was I looking for? A few weeks ago I was searching on Google for big, soft, thick towels. This popped into my mind during the last holiday in France when I had to dry myself with thin towels that left fluff behind, when I realised how important it was to have nice-feeling-quality-towels. I landed on these website called Cotton Counts. I immediately saw the great review’s about how soft they were and that they felt like towels for an expensive spa or hotel. I believed I really had to buy them and so I did. A few days later, they arrived at my home in my little hometown and my mother washed them right away. When I came home, I cuddled them and knew I liked them. I took them with me to my student room and from that moment on I never stopped loving them. I dry myself everyday with great, soft and very big towels. And yes, that is definitely worth 19,99 euro's each (exclusive delivery costs). The towels are available in five natural shades: white, natural, anthracite, stone and chocolate (this colours are mentioned from top to bottom in the photo I will put below). Cotton Counts also has guest towels, washcloths and little towels that matches the maui shower towel perfectly. The shower towels I bought are measured 70 x 140 centimetres. You can find them here: http://cottoncounts.nl/bathlinen/towels/maui-large/

My student room | Dad and his little project

Hello lovely readers of this post,

Before I start talking I wanna say one thing: this is not just because I had to stick to my promise, but because I have something very nice to tell! This weekend my dad started working on two little stools he promised he was going to make. Knowing him, I am sure that they will perfectly match my beach-look-table and bench. In about two weeks it has to be done because my parents are comming (and they are by car; so that is very handy), so my dad can take them with him by car. I am very curious about how the little square shaped stools are going to be, but I am more exited than nervous about the outcome. I will make a new post about them as soon as dad has completed his little project.

My student room | Shelves: the perfect decoration to create a beach-look!

Out of the blue something popped into my mind (I don't know if I can say it that way). I forget to tell you about my shelves and how I came to the idea to put them in my room for decoration. What I díd tell you is that I wanted to create a kind of beach look in my room. It seems logical to use shelves but in the first months I did not think about that. Just about a month ago, I was cleaning up my room and even the stuff I had put far away (behind a kind of secret door). At some point I found my shelves and stone collection. Since I was two I had an obsession for stones. I always came back from trips with my pockets full of little stones. It was kind of funny, because I really thought évery stone was pretty so I were taking 1000000 of them with me. My daddy used to make the joke (when we came back from holiday or a day at the beach) that the car would not hold it. Everybody in my family knew I was always looking for stones. Later, this addiction (and love for stones) expanded to collection stones ánd shelves. I had kept them behind my secret door for several years and as I was sorting them out, I suddenly thought to myself: I should use the most beautiful ones for my new student room! I picked out the nice ones and took them to my room. Right below this posts you can see two pictures of the shelves and how I use them right now. In several posts back you can see more pictures. The first bottle is from the Xenos, the other one did I bought from a little web shop (I have a better picture from it some posts back), but I have forgotten what the name of that web shop was. If you have never collected shelves yourself, you can easily buy them at several webshops or at decoration- or woonstores. I would like to hear what you think about my shelves-using-for-decoration! Lots of love, me.

My student room | Warm and cosy

When I have something in mind; it got to change! I was not totally happy with my other duvet cover, so this time I want to do it perfectly right. Two weeks ago I bought a new duvet cover together with my boyfriend when we were at the Ikea. Together with the duvet cover I bought, a new plant, three rattan baskets and a blanket (the light one on this pictures). The duvet cover was 25 euros. It was quite a gamble, because I did not have anything with me to compare the colours, but I am very glad I bought it! It suits perfect. I love the earth colours it has, just like other colours in my room. Below I will put some photos of my new duvet cover. I like the fact that my bed looks like someone-just-have-slept-in-it-and-its-really-messy (what actually is a fact).

My student room | On the wish list

It took a while, but here is my next post about interior and styling! Actually, I have been looking for a trash can for a while (I haven't bought the flower-pot-trash-can-thing from Marktplaats), but already had this one on my laptop. I think I just don't have to buy 'just some trash can' because it will not brighten up my room and this thing is much more beautiful, suitable and I can use it for the upcomming 60 years (I am Always thinking about the future; I don't wanna buy things I can throw away in a couple of months).

This pedal bin is from Riviera Maison, my favourite styling branch. It is 99,99 euros. It is also made of Rustic Rattan, which many of my home accessories are. The bin features a detachable receptacle so you can easy empty the bin and throw away the waste. This trash can or bin is also available in white, but I favour this one a lot. It is 42 centimeters high. The only thing I need to do is thinking about if I really need him right now and looking my parents (white a big smile) in the eye. I hope you like this bin as much as I do. I am looking forward to your reaction!

My student room | Where to leave my shoes?

I have only one 'big' problem in my room and I have pretty much the same in my life. I have to many shoes. This was not bad until two weeks ago because I had every single shoe standing at my parents’ house, but now that I have moved out I got a problem! I have been looking at several home stores. Boxes for in my wardrobe (don't like the idea of my shoes standing below my clothes), a little cupboard (no place) or a shelve (maybe that is the best solution). What do you think? For now my shoes are standing next to each other right below my bed. Currently, I have thirteen pairs of shoes (no joke) and the other half is still standing at my parents’ house. With a little mad, you will soon encounter too many shelves. I will be thinking about this in the upcoming weeks. I would like to hear it if you come up with a really good solution!

Three out of thirteen; having too many shoes!

My student room | A little pearl

Hi everyone! Here I am again with a purchase for my room. This is what they call: good value for less money! I went shopping with a friend of mine when we walked into a store to buy presents for my boyfriend. It went totally the other way around. Before I knew it I was buying so much home accessories for my room! It turned out to be a huge store with 'cheep' home accessories that match my room. All my photo frames and the pot with little heart candies are from the same shop! So now you much be curious witch shop I mean. I have mentioned it already in another post: it is called de 'Xenos'!

So, I bought this clock because I was in love when I saw it and it was only 14 euros (as far as I could remember, it was below the 20 euro's for sure!) Maybe this is an item you will buy after you have seen it in this post. I am very happy with it. I only have to give it a place on my wall somewhere in my room and that is the point: I don't know where! But I will be thinking about that very carefully before I make a decision! Maybe you have an idea? I would like to hear it! Lots of love, me.

You definitely should look at the detail, therefore this picture too.

My student room | What makes a house a home

I was trying to find out what makes a house a home. This question was not hard to answer: having my family or my boyfriend and his family around. Unfortunately, that is not the case. So what to do next? To make it my little home I have a lot of pictures spread around the room. On every furniture (except the high wardrobe) is a photo frame with a photo of my boyfriend, my sister or my parents. This way it still feels a little like home. Photo's make a room more personal, they give a room warmth and especially they give a room a cosy feeling.

My student room | Love at first sight

Believe it or not, from day one I loved it. It was one of the first things I stumbled upon when looking on the internet for home accessoiries and one of the first things I put on my little what-I-would-like-to-do-with-and-buy-for-my-new-student-room-paper. Nevertheless, it was almost the last thing I bought for my room. I extremly like it because it is made of solid wood and the letters are really painted in white. It is really robust and big and therefor draws your attention when you walk into my room. I bought it from kamer 26 for 39 euros.

Happiness is not a destination. It is a way of life.

My student room | It all started with a little lampshade

My first real purchase was this lampshade (or actually two of them). I bought it second-hand from marktplaats. With buying this lampshade everything from the costly Riviera Maison collection suited well in my room. This was the malefactor for my room being so expensive. In other words: from now on it had to be perfect, suiting the lampshade. I bought it for 20 euro's I believe and I am still glad I did that. Later I bought the bigger one (which stands beside my bed) that you can see on the photo in my previous post.

My student room | Some little details

As I have time now, I also want to show you some little details in my room; some cute little things I have bought that beautify my room. I am already sorry for the hundred photo's I will post as I am addicted to collectibles and little home accessories.

My student room | Last but not least, my bed

This is maybe the thing I use the most; it is not only comfort, and it does not only offer me some great nights and sleep. It is a beautiful furniture in my room and offers everything I could ask for. It was the second thing I fell in love with when I was looking for things to make my student home a little Paradise.  I simply could not forget this headboard after I had seen it and I was so glad my parents bought this one for me! I just photographed my bed and headboard, so again I will put some of them below.

My student room | Let's bring some beach-feeling to home

This is really my little pearl in the room. I knew what I really wanted (not a standard desk, but a table where I could sit with my friends ánd make my homework. The idea started with our family-holiday in Austria when we had a high corner sofa or bench and my sister said: maybe that is something for in your student room! Don't you think you would like that? And then a huge smile came upon my face. Since I was younger I always liked to do my homework downstairs at the dining table in the living room. It was big and I liked it more than a desk. As so it happened. My dad is a great handyman and he dad designed and build this awesome table and bench. I am deeply in love with this unique thing. I definitely believe that it makes my room complete and gives it simply a more beach-look. It is a great twist. I am just happy with this and I will definitely take these two beauties with me the rest of my life!

My student room | The little cupboard

As you may have noticed this cupboard looks almost the same as my wardrobe, which is very logical when I tell you they are from the same collection and I bought them at once. It is perfect; not too big and not too small. I also like it because I can put so many things on it such as a photo frame, a lamp and a candy jar which is filled with cute little hearts (but about the candy jar I will tell you later on and show you better pictures). Again I hang a little heart at the doorknob, which gives it just a little finishing touch. Let me know if you like it! Lots of love, me.

My student room | Hello furniture

Hi girls and guys, followers and non-followers,

I thought it was time to show you my whole room and especially my furniture. In my little room, which is 16m2, I have a beautiful white wardrobe with French louvered doors, a little cupboard for all my stuff, a nice and beach-style table with bench and my bed (which consists out of one simple single bed and a headboard of Riviera Maison). I will discuss them one by one. Everyone in a single post or update.

This is my wardrobe. It is from a website that sells only baby rooms. It is called www.babydeals.nl. I fell in love immediately when I saw the wardrobe and luckily my parents thought that it was pretty too! There is no different from other wardrobes although it is meant for a baby (but the description said that it was also usable for years later). The wardrobe is not made of chipboard but of real and solid wood. The wardrobe has two trays and in the first tray there are three little baskets of reeds. I bought them at Ikea with my boyfriend (it was hilarious, because as I am a perfectionist I stood there for hours just to find three baskets that looked the same and where also beautiful together) . The wardrobe is really high; I believe two metres exactly and I hang a little heart on the doorknob, but I will show you all these little details in a later post.

My student room | It is a kind of trash can flower pot thing

I could just not wait to post something again since I haven’t done it for one day. Since Sunday I haven't done anything new on my room, but today I am maybe going to paint the frame of my mirror when I can find the time. I am free of school today so I don't have any colleges and enough time I hope. My plan is to make a huge step when it comes to study and read some chapters of both study books I have for this first period so I am not sure if I can combine these two things. (But if I will not make it today, I will do it next week).  I am still very happy with my room! Yesterday I decided I have to have a printer, so that is my upcoming mission: to find a great-working but cheap printer! I also have found a kind of trash can or flower pot on ‘Marktplaats’ (a website where everyone can sell stuff that he or she will not use again) this morning. I was very enthusiastic with finding this one, because I think it is unique and way cheaper than the other trash can from Riviera Maison. As I need a flower pot ánd a trash can I don't know yet where I will use it for and if I will even use it. Of course, I will put a picture of this cute-little-robust-unique-lovely item below. But yeah, I will no longer bother you with this bla bla bla and put some photo's below. Lots of love!

I call it flowerpot-trashcan

I think it is a beauty!

My student room | Just a little update

My friends are watching a movie (it is called 'Sex in the city') downstairs as I am writing this new message. I have been very busy today making my student room even more perfect. My new kind of tree-plant-thing just fits the room almost perfect, I will post a picture right beneath this message. What I missed most last time I stayed here was a mirror I could see my whole body on. So, I bought a huge mirror at the Ikea last week and gave it a nice place in the middle of my room today. So as you might already knew, today I have almost finished my room with my sweet boyfriend, sister and my parents. The laminate floor is gorgeous. It looks so different from what it looked like before! I am also happy with my new photo frames and plaid. In half an hour I will go back to my roommates and watch 'So you think you can dance'. I am planning to go to my room when it is nine o'clock so I can sleep early! But that is way too much information already! Have fun watching my pictures and enjoy your evening!
