My student room | My purchases; lovely candle holders and more!

I am back in Wageningen again and therefore I finally have time to write some blog posts! I had a very nice, lovely, great, amazing, happy, unfortunately not never ending weekend and I did 'some' (but it becomes closer to reality when you call it 'a lot') shopping at my favourite store with my boyfriend. I came home with a lot of candles holders. I just counted the candles holders  and found out I bought seven (!) of them! But it was my intention to buy them, so I let's just don't blame myself this time for buying so much. First I could not find a nice one, but when we walked nearly to the end of the store (it is huge by the way, it takes more than an hour to walk by everything when you really want to take a look at things), some candles holders finally catched my eye. It was very cute to see all those Christmas lights, trees, almost-real-looking-snow and hear the well-known Christmas songs. (Really something you should do by the way: Intratuin around Christmas!) Could a girl be happier? Shopping, holding your boyfriends hand ánd walking in a kind of winter-christmas-land with so much home accessories. I just did not know where to look at! Luckily my boyfriend has a lot of patience, so we stayed there for more than two hours (I really appreciate that darling). Besides the candles holders I also bought a photo frame (I wanted to buy four of them for the hearts of my family and him, but I found out that was becoming way to expensive so I decided to buy one and fill my room with just one heart of my lovely soul mate), three decoration hearts and a big pinecone. So enough talking for today, lets show you the pictures and give you a nice impression of my purchases. Happy!

Want to see how I will put it all together and how I give all the accessories a nice place in my room? Keep an eye on my blog and I will show you in one of my following posts! I promise it will be coming soon!

My future home | Ruffle duvet cover, mine mine mine!

After such a long time, finally a post in the 'my future home' topic! I have been searching for such a long time for a duvet cover that suited my room! I really think it was the hardest thing to do, finding a suitable duvet cover. It takes a huge place in your room, so it has to be suiting the rest of your room! When searching, I landed on this really nice duvet cover (see a picture when you click on the [...] symbol) Way to expensive, but maybe something for later right? It really gives a cute and romantic touch to your bedroom. You can buy it / find it here!

What do you think? Do you like this duvet cover? Is it something you would love to have in your room and what kind of duvet cover do you have in your room?

My student room | DIY let's make them draw a heart

I was actually a little surprised of myself, when at one moment something just 'flew' into my head. When I thought of it, I actually knew where it came from. I love my boyfriend's drawn hearts. Why? Because they are his! They are pretty on their own way, full of love and not really 'made because he tried a thousand times'. Yes they often are not symmetrical and maybe a little misshaped, but still they are the most beautiful hearts I know. The thing I like the most is that he really puts a lot of effort in it, willing to make them more and more symmetrical and looking like mine. But sweetheart, don't do that! They are beautiful!

Back to where I was! I invented something which I am really going to share with you. This is also for every girl who stands on her own feet (maybe for not quite that long) and wants to 'bring some loved ones to home'. How? By letting them draw a personal heart. A heart from the heart. A heart made with love, for you, and on someone's his own way. The only thing you have to do is to persuade your daddy to draw you a heart (which is way to girly of course) too!

What is needed for this DIY?
  • Photo frames
  • Strong paper
  • A permanent marker
  • Your loved ones
  • No drawing-talent

Buy the number of photo frames you are going need and some really strong paper. You can buy the same photo frames, or buy all kinds of photo frames if you like that more. (Maybe you succeed in suiting different photo frames with everyone's personality). Next to the photo frames and paper, you are going to need something to draw with. I have bought a permanent marker, but you can also buy all different colours of markers or even paint if you like that. Then put your loved ones (parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, boyfriends, friends and so on) around the table and let them draw one single heart on their own way. Make sure they are not cheating by looking at the hearts everyone will be drawing! Then collect all the hearts that are made, put them in their photo frames and give them a nice place in your room! Smile guaranteed!

Already enthusiastic about this idea? Are you already planning to make this little crazy idea become reality? Let me know when you are going to do this by yourself! I would also really like it to receive some pictures of the result when you are finished! I will make sure I give your pictures a nice place on my blog!

My student room | A winterproof room with a new thing on my withslist: candles holders!

I could barely prevent it: writing another post about the winter and the ambiance it brings. Wait a minute. I could not prevent it, because here it is. Don't forget to look a little closer at the pictures below! The pictures are also very usable and handy for some how-to-make-your-room-cosy-and-ready-to-warm-you-up-in-the-consecutive-cold-days-called-winter-inspiration!

It happened again. I think I have to drag my boyfriend to the home-styling-living-furniture-shops for the 10th (or more?) time. I was sitting on the couch, with my boyfriend his family and him, when I saw those little candles flickering in the cornor of the living room. His mum bought them and I just loved the moment, the scene and the light of the candles just made it perfect. So there came another thing on my little (which has already became big, huge, giant) wishlist: little, sweet, loving candle holders. I have something in mind, I hope I can find it. I was very surprised that I don't alreay have candles in my room! I just love it, so why not? I think it is something from the old days: my dad used to forbid me lightening candles in my room because he thought it was kind of dangereous. So, here I am, being a little bit afraid of candles in my room. But I do love the ambiance it brings and really does makes me feel happy! So, lovely boyfriend of me, what do you think? Shall we go? This weekend maybe? Enthusiastic as I am, it will be no surprise if I come home with a huge collection of candles holders! Don't you become enthusiastic when you see these photo's below this post? Oke, it is really clear now: I am just looking forward to those cold winter days; blankets, candles, tea, pyjamas, movies, fireplace and all time to hide myself in the arms of my little angel (how romantic!)

What about you? Do you love the winter season or are you already waiting for the summer again? I would also love to hear recommandations or suggestions for my following blog posts! Do you guys like to read more about me, more about concrete things to buy, more things for inspiration? Please let me know and have a good night!

My student life | How I attend college. You can call it 'college from a different perspective'

I just attended a lecture of sociology from my laptop screen. Huh? Yes, I am home attending college, sitting on my beacy couch, drinking some tea, wearing my most comfortable clothes and surrounded by blankets. What does a girl need more? This morning there were a lot of problems with the railways, and therefore I could not get the train I always have and decided to attend my college from my room (although I actually could have made it to attend the lecture at University, but this is so much more relaxing). Yesterday, I had a very nice, relaxing and lovely day with my boyfriend which made me felt so great! We just spent a lot time sleeping, watching television, eating a lot and we also made a big ride by bike. Just a us-day (or 'ons dagje' is how we call it in Dutch). So, having a kind of break during my lecture I made some pictures of this nice and cosy scene and posted one below.

Do you girls or guys (sorry I sometimes only say guys, but that is just a simplification for the times I actually mean 'you all') have to attend college today? Did you had a nice weekend and do you like taking a ride by bike once in a while too?

My student life | I have got a litte bit of a huge addiction to bags

It is Friday evening and I am spending time on the couch next to my daddy. Home sweet home is what they call it right? Our purpose was to see each other tonight, but my boyfriend and I decided to meet each other tomorrow! We both had a long day and he is also a little bit sick. One positive thing: now we can both look forward to tomorrow! Sweetheart, if you read this, I love you! But enough about today, let's tell you guys about my bags-addiction. I have to admit, I have a huge addiction to bags (and I think my boyfriend and friends can agree with that too). I love to vary with bags I use, so I use several different bags during the week and I have a lot of them laying in my closet. I was searching on the internet, when I saw this bag. I think it was love at first sight! Something I will definitely put on my wishlist. You can see a photo of this bag when you click on the [...] symbol to watch this full post). Do you want to buy this bag? You can buy it here for 99 euro's: http://www.detassensite.nl/leren-laptoptas/prod_198.html

What do you think of this bag? I am also looking for a very simple and black bag (I prefer leather and with zipper), does anyone of you have a good idea or knows a bag that fits this little requirements?

My student life | Oh happy day

Hang on a little tighter to your chair or couch, because here is another way too enthusiastic blog post again! I am so happy! Today I got my second and last grade for social psychology and I passed it with a 8.5 (I don't know how they call it according to the English or American school system, so let's just keep it in Dutch), just the same grade as I got for the introduction of public health! I am not only happy with such great grades, but is also means I got my first twelve (already!) credits! Next to that, it is already Thursday evening, which means tomorrow I will finally see my boyfriend and family again. I am looking forward to jump in my boyfriend's arms and falling to sleep together. Sometimes it seems like I am away for so many days! Before I forget to tell you, I have a little report of this very busy day! This morning, I had my presentation (and I did not prepare anything because that was my learning goal; something I really wanted to achieve was to give a presentation without preparing anything, so I came up with a very personal subject (moving to Wageningen) and just improvised something as I stood there in front of eight other people) and it went very well! After that, I went home and prepared and ate a delicious lunch. Right after the lunch, I went upstairs, worked on my report about the two presentations I gave (a reflection), and jumped in bed just to have some time for myself when I fell asleep for more than an hour. I woke up, right before I had to go to college (just a few minutes before) and I saw that I had received an e-mail, which turned out to be an e-mail with all grades of social psychology! When I saw I had made it with a 8.5, nothing could tear down my day! I left with a happy face. This evening, after I had my little dinner, I had a very relaxing and cosy evening with my roommates on the couch and now I am going to put on my pyjamas, remove my make-up and brush my teeth before I will jump in my second best friend. Have a good night and 'see' you soon!

Do you love taking a little nap in the afternoon as much as I do? (When you are feeling so tired and your bed looks so comfortable and it seems like he is calling you?) And do you recognize getting so happy from hearing you passed your exam?

My student room | Something you've got to see!

I came up again with something I definitely have to blog about! When I found this on the internet, I immediately got the feeling that I had to share this with you. Via Martine is a very new web shop invented and designed by (which is very obvious) Martine. The idea is that you can turn your Instagram pictures into something tangible (touchable). From a simple post card, to a real-looking polaroid photograph or a magnet. It is just so cool! I almost ordered something, when I thought 'maybe I should take some time thinking about what I really want and which pictures I am going to use'! But ofcourse, this is something that you can really use to personalize your room a bit more with something unique and something that is really you! For example with the polaroid photographs, you can just stick them to your wall (as you can see on the picture below) but you can also buy a wooden plank and nail them to the plank! It is also so much fun just to make a photobook with all those polaroid photographes with your friends or just from random Instagram pictures, so you have your life in one single book! Already curious? You can find her web shop very easy when you just go to www.viamartine.com!

Do you have some other ideas about using these polaroid photographs as styling for a room? I am really curious about what you guys think, so please leave a comment if you want to!

This picture is from www.viamartine.com (source) and not made by me!

My student life | I love the mornings I stand up with a big smile, just for nothing

This morning (oke, almost afternoon), I stood up (or actually opened my eyes because standing up I did with less of a smile) with a big smile on my face! It is very weird, but my nights are so much better here than they are at home with my parents! This makes me think, this has really become my 'first' home (and with my parents and sister my second home)! I am just happy with waking up after such a good night in my own (yes it is mine, so special!) little room and home. Yesterday I had a very good vollyball practice with a very good ambiance! Everybody was enthusiastic and I learned a lot of new things. It was the second best practice I have had in all these weeks here in Wageningen. To be clear, it was Ladies 2 which is not my own team but I am playing games and training once in a week with them (and I actually like it very much)! For now, I will go to study for sociology and then take a shower and make myself a lovely breakfast! I hope you all have a good morning too! Have a nice day!

Do you have those mornings when you just are happy because you slept so well? When you stand up with a happy feeling and smile? And do you love breakfast and showering and having your own little home (if you have that) as much as I do?

My student life | Who is your little angel?

Today I will be very honest to you. I always write about my shiny life and how great everything went, but today is not a really good day. My mind is full of so many things. Besides my mind being a mess, the upcoming week is going to be the most busy weeks I have ever had and school is not going good this day (read it as 'very bad'). My intention was to do a lot of things, but everything seems so difficult and I have the feeling that I will not be able to pass my exams this time (although they are in a few weeks so I have a lot of time left to prepare). Every single point of my to-do-list seems out of reach (like I am not able to do that). Economics is just so much harder than it was at high school and sociology just seems to make everything more complicated than it is and is very vague. So, I was being very sad, grumpy and feeling like I had no energy when I got this messages from my boyfriend. He cheered me up in less than a few minutes. He just knew how to cheer me up, he knew exactly what to say and he also sent me so many sweet words. His advice was: 'leave things for what they are and go enjoy this evening with your parents and sister, sweetheart'. It is true. With all those negative things going on in my mind, I will not be able to be efficient and finish a lot of things for school. So why not focus on the good things and enjoy this little time with my family that is left? He is my little sunshine, my little angle, my rock and my support. He always finds a way to make time for me! Now that I am writing this message, it immediately becomes clear that he is spending so much time cheering me up while he has so little time left for his exams tomorrow! What am I doing? I have to support HIM! So I will stop writing this post pretty soon, put a smile on my face, leave my books for what they are and support him instead of thinking about my own little drama! Everything will be okay, enough time left to spend on these two school subjects.

Who is your little angel? Is there someone who can also turn you into happy in just a second? Someone who always knows how to cheer you up and really puts a lot of effort in really doing that?

My student mind | Hello November!

It is almost freezing (or at least very cold) outside, my windows are fogged and my third best friend (after my boyfriend and bed), called my cellphone, indicates '1 november' at his little screen. It just happened. November 2013 is here. Time for me to lay another seconds in my bed, just to enjoy the cosy and warm feeling I get from him. After getting myself out of bed, I make a little dance. November means almost December and that really is my most favorite month. Especially because this year I also go on a holiday, to Rome! Yes, I don't like it being so cold outside, but everything else about December is just wonderful. I just love the cozyness, warmth, christmaslights, candels, blankets, tea and so much more that lovely December gives. I just love the ambiance! I want to hug my boyfriend just a little more, I want to stay in my bed for just some extra minutes and I want to enjoy the shower just a little bit more! Besides that, there is no such lovely thing as the fireplace. For me, fireplace is December and December is the fireplace. Besides the fireplace and all the other things I mentioned, there are all those lovely happenings in December: Christmas, Saint Nicolas and last but not least the celebration of the new year. This time already 2014! Time flies! I am just going to count the days and for now enjoy the days of November too.

What is your favorite month? Do you recognize everything I have said and do you love December as much as I do? Let me know!

My student room | Photographs on my wall

A few weeks ago I told you about the idea to put three of my selfmade-photographs on my wall. Why? Because my walls are, according to me, still very empty and I have been brainstorming about the most creative and relatively cheep ideas to fill them. This idea was one of the outcomes. Today, I looked threw all of my photographs and picked some I would like to hang on my wall. Right after I selected several pictures I decided to let you decide witch one I will put on my wall.

Which three pictures, I gave them a number from 1 to 6 and you can find them when you click on the [...] symbol, do you like the most?

My student life | Me and my mess

It is finally Friday! My exams are over and I am looking forward to a lovely weekend with my family, boyfriend and friends before the new period will start. Today I had my second and last exam and I think I also passed this one. I am very happy, because my two hours of really learning simple facts and list so I would know them by heart paid off. I really wanted to post something on my blog and my mind is full of ideas but I have to hurry a little bit because my lovely mother is going to pick me up by car (so I don't have to go by train, which will save me a lot of stress and traveltime) and she will be here in less dan half and an hour. I have to clean up the mess I have made, clean my room so it will be shiny again and pack my stuff before mummy will arive!

My student life | My first exam since I am in University

Guys guys guys! All right, before I will go talking way to enthusiastic about my exam today I want to apologize for not updating for such a long time (although realistically nobody will really miss my post or even notice that I have not been posting for a while otherwise than my boyfriend). But what I wanted to tell you: today I have had my very first exam at the University and I really did I did a good job (I think I have really passed this exam, Social Psychology). I have been studying very hard for the last 10 days and that has paid off! So, being really happy right now, but very tired on the other side (my eyes are feeling really heavy) I will go to bed, maybe talking for a few minutes with my boyfriend on the phone and go to sleep! Because tomorrow will be another day of studying! Friday I will have my second (and also last) exam about Public Health, where I already have spend some (read three days) on! I am very curious and excited! We will see, goodnight and 'speak' to you soon!

Do you guys have exams right now?

My student life | A mountain of laundry

I have to admit; living on my own has not been so hard for the last few months. But when I came in my room today and took a look at my laundry basket, I had a little 'I need my mom moment'. No, it is not because I only need her for the laundry, I definitely miss her not being around as well, but it is just something mummy normally did. Because she has become my follower today, I thought it was a nice gesture to write a little post about missing her. Do you guys recognize this by the way? Seeing (a mountain of) the laundry and thinking 'where is my mum?'  So after I laughed a little bit and tried to get all the laundry really ín the basket (what did not really succeed), I took a couple of photographs and did not call my mother but decided to do my laundry tomorrow and write a blog post about it this evening. So here it is, bright and shiny, a post about my mountain of laundry!

Are you guys living on your own already? Do you recognize having way to much laundry to do? And do you miss your mum and parents too?

My future home | Wall of old-looking wood

I was telling way to enthusiastic  to my boyfriend about our future home together and how it would look like, when I suddenly realised it was kind of way to progressive. But I also immediately connected my enthusiastic talking to my lovely student-room blog! I just realised in less than a few seconds that I had invented a great idea; creating a new topic on my blog called 'my future home'. Why? Because my future home really keeps me busy! Sometimes I see such wonderful home styling things which I can't make come truth right now, but I always think 'that is something I really have to remember for later!' So I made it myself a lot easier to remember everything I see and gave you another topic to get inspiration from. The upcoming weeks, months or maybe years I will keep you updated with beautiful ideas for a home, for my future home (with I will hopeful share with my amazing boyfriend, and yes, I still believe in those happy ending perfect fairy tales!). Lots of love, a very progressive home-loving girl.

My student room | Some sketches and wild ideas

An important hint I got when you are going to decorate a room is to make a sketch of your room in advance. The same thing when you are trying to decide what you are going to do with your walls. Last night, I could not sleep and I made some sketches of my walls and how I would like to decorate them. Unfortunately, I wrote all the words around it in Dutch, but I will explain it to you in English. Right between my two doors I want to put a  very cute square-shaped photo of my boyfriend. On the left door I maybe want to put a lot of photos I have got with my friends. But as I am a little afraid that is going to look really messy I am still not sure about that idea. On the right door (which is the door that leads you into my bathroom) I want to put a text that says 'Bathroom'. Then my second wall. Above my dresser I want to hang two wooden boards or shelves (the same boards my dad has used for my table) and put two little plants on it, some letters as decoration and my study books. Then, I want to paint the frame of my mirror ór even a whole vertical stripe of my wall in the same earth-color as my other wall. On the right, right above my table, bench and stools, I want to hang three detailed-photos of my room that I have made by myself, which I told you in a earlier post about.

I will keep you all updated about my room. There is a chance that I will be shopping this afternoon with my boyfriend, so then I will certainly buy some new things for my room! Have a nice day!

My student room | Daddy's little project

Since I have been sick the last two days (and woke up this morney feeling so much better), I could not write any post untill now. Last Saturday, my mum, dad, sister and boyfriend came to my student house. My dad had finished (what I call) his little project and brought the two square-shaped stools with him. Ofcourse I immediately took a lot of photographes and here they are: my stools.

My student room | What to do with bare walls?

I promised to make a post about bare walls and what to do about them. In other words: some creative ideas to perk up your wall. As I almost got all the furniture and big stuff I need, I can finally spend all of my energy on the little details. I was thinking about my walls being almost empty. All my photos were poperly in a photoframe and the only thing I really did hung up where a mirror and a piece of wood with a lovely text on it. They needed some more! I have almost figured out everything I want to put on my wall, but I still want to inspire you with some creative ideas. So, here is my little list of what you could do with a bare or plain wall.

Idea 1: Buy a big wall-sticker. This sticker can be a text or a figure such as a tree or heart. There a serveral web shops who sell wall-stickers.

Idea 2: Buy a beutiful painting that matches your room. When you have a lot of money, go by several painters to look for a beautiful handmade painting. If you want to spend less money on a painting you can buy them cheeper by 'Action', other stores or search threw webshops on the internet.

Idea 3: Buy a huge photo frame and put your most beautiful or fun photo in it. This will be a great eye-cather and makes your room very personal and gives it a very cosy or warm feeling.

Idea 4: Buy a long rope (or two or three) and use a clothespin to attach multiple photos.

Idea 5: Buy shelves and put some cute home asseccoiries, decoration letters and books on them.

Idea 6: Make a wall of hearts. Buy as much decoration-hearts as you can find that have a little rope on it so you can put it on the wall. Vary in sizes and colors to make a very nice-looking heart-wall.

Idea 7: Buy a frame and collect shelves at the beach to make your own shelves-decoration-frame. You can use shelves to decorate the frame or you can use shelves to fill the frame in with.

Idea 8: Buy several coat hooks and hang decoration things on its; such as hearts or photo frames.

I hope I inspired you with (some of) these ideas. I would like to get some feedback, so leave a comment if you want to!

My student room | How to use your own creativity and photos?

Hello lovely blog readers again,

Yesterday I was laying in my bed, brainstorming about what I could do with my bare walls. I was thinking about several things (in a few days I will dedicate a whole post to this creative ideas), when I suddenly conceived something very awesome. I have made several pictures of little accessories in my room, such as a bottle filled with shelves, these cute and little hearts and my blankets. So why not use these pictures as art or accessory for my room? I conceived the idea to print three photos I have made of my own home accessories on canvas to put it on my still bare wall. Since I have a lot of pictures of my friends and family, I thought it was a nice and totally different idea. Another plus is that these pictures or art will perfectly match my room. Why I wanted to share this idea separately from all the other? Because it is something I really wanted to tell you as soon as possible and I think that it is a completely different concept than all the others. I hope to inspire you with this idea and I would love to get some feedback and hear what yoú think and feel and find useful or actually less useful. If you want to leave a comment specific on this post you can click on the title of this post, create an Google+ account and share your thoughts. If you want to say something to me about this blog as a whole you can reach me by sending an e-mail to 'chantalgoenee@hotmaill.com'.

Lots of love, me.
